Guy Fawkes Inn ***
This York townhouse is the birth place of Guy Fawkes, born 13 April 1570 and baptised in St. Michael le Belfrey church opposite. GuyFawkes is famous for his role as ringleader of the ‘Gunpowder Plot’ to blow up the English Houses of Parliament, London, on 5th November 1605. It is this event that gives us the English ’bonfire night’ celebrations on or around the 5th on November each year.
The Guy Fawkes Inn is located just opposite York Minster and Stonegate making it the perfect base to explore York. All the rooms are individual in character, ranging from comfortable twin or double rooms, to mahogany 4 poster bed rooms. The GastroPub at Guy Fawkes Inn offers an excellent menu and serves 3 ales brewed specially for the inn, The Conspirator, the 1605 Ale, and of course the Guy Fawkes Ale.

Just stayed at this hotel. It was delightful, and is especially convenient if you are spending time around the minster. The gastro pub is a great place to unwind after a whole day of sightseeing york. Jane
